DirtFiX helps repair video dropouts, film dirt, and other transient defects in footage. It works by cloning a clean portion of a related field or frame to cover over the defect. Similar to the Scratch Removal feature found on some Avid systems, it has a unique combination of features:
- Repair individual fields with ease. No opening and closing shapes; each keyframe is a patch. Back-to-back patches within an effect.
- Subpixel shifting and resizing of the patch, to accurately compensate for camera or subject movement over time.
- Apply as either a segment or transition effect, whichever is more convenient.
Advantages over other solutions:
- No import/export of media to another application. Repair data stays within the sequence to allow for redigitization.
- No additional video tracks needed, reducing trimming and EDL hassles.
- Choose to patch with the matching clean portion of the previous field or frame, or another clean portion of the current field.
- Outward feathering on patch for smooth blending.
FlickerFiX helps to remove flicker and other changes in brightness, contrast, and color levels from video or film footage. It is used for:
- Changing lighting conditions during shooting such as a subject moving from indoor to outdoor lighting.
- Camera auto-iris problems.
- Analog signal path disturbances such as misaligned heads in a VTR.
- Film processing or exposure variations.
SpeedRamP enables you to change speeds smoothly during a clip, directly within the Avid environment. No chopping into many segments, each with their own speed, and laboriously match-framing them. No exporting to another application, maintaining separate media and separate project files. You can also fix common field-related problems without changing speeds.
- Multiple speeds within a clip, from 100X forward to 100X reverse.
- Set up to 9 speed keyframes, and the speed changes smoothly between them
- Loop or ping-pong motion
- Keyframed strobe: start at one strobe value, change smoothly to another
- Strobe Blending makes dissolving freezes.
- Remove 3:2 pulldown to smooth motion or make progressive frames (automatic phase detection)
- Add 3:2 pulldown for a FilmSim effect
- Re-phase 3:2 pulldown, moving it to match another clip.
- Remove either field, duplicating the other.
- Reverse field dominance or field topness
- Graphical display of speed and keyframes
- Source time code tracking for easy match-framing
