Digital Vision has announced that Hong Kong’s Post Production Office Ltd. (PPO) has ordered a Film Master solution. The Film Master will be central to the grading and finishing process for all its motion picture and commercials projects, and will deliver key benefits including significantly increased processing speed, powerful grading features and the DVO image processing toolset. .
PPO, based in the popular Causeway Bay, is one of three major facilities in Hong Kong serving the feature film and TV commercials markets.
Dennis Yeung, Owner of PPO explains, “None of the other systems that we evaluated offered such a complete toolset allowing us to tackle the type of work that we do.The auto tracker saves a lot of time; our colourists will find it easy to track objects with one simple click. The DVO noise reducer is a must as it makes the visuals look clean and crisp and does not require us to carry out noise reduction on the telecine. DVO allows our clients to see results in real-time.”
Film Master’s powerful blade server Turbine adds significant CPU power to the workstation and improves render times by more than tenfold. Yeung continues, “The background / foregroundrenderer is like no other system, once you do the grade it auto renders in the background - even when using 3rd-party plug-ins the render speed is still fast, often much faster than real-time at full resolution 2k. We tested all the grading systems side by side: the Film Master delivers on every feature without over-complicating the creative process. Our colourists will be able to concentrate on grading without being overwhelmed by technicalities.”
Simon Cuff, Digital Vision’s CEO adds, “PPO will be a reference for other facilities in Hong Kong. The installation of Film Master takes the facility’s DI workflow to another level with powerful grading tools for feature films and commercials that’s easy to maintain, easy to upgrade and totally scalable.”
