Digital audio workstations have dramatically changed the way music is produced. And yet, a key element left behind in the digital studio revolution is a quality, low-cost alternative to a computer's mouse and keyboard. Motor Mix answers this need. It is the ultimate mixing surface for Digi 001 and is a low-cost alternative for Pro Tools / 24 workstations. Plus, it is easily expandable and is the only control surface in its price range with motorized faders.

Motor Mix can be used with digital audio workstations to enter fader moves, send solo/mute commands, edit plug-in parameters, control the transport, and do much more all in real time with physical controls rather than the cumbersome and limiting mouse.

Each unit comes with eight 100mm motorized faders, and each fader has its own non-detented rotary knob for controlling panning, EQ, auxiliary send levels, plug-in settings and more. The faders can be set to control an unlimited number of mixer channels. Motor Mix also leaves plenty of room for growth. Up to four units can be linked, providing up to 32 faders.

Nearly every aspect of a mix is accessible using Motor Mix. On-board control buttons are assignable to groups, mute or solo commands, record ready, automation enable or effects in/out. A 40x2 dot LCD display provides a readout for channel assignments and rotary pot settings.

With its small size and low cost, MotorMix is a welcome addition to any project studio. It also provides much needed mouse relief, allowing you to take full control over your music.

What versions of Pro Tools are compatible with Motor Mix?

The Motor Mix digital mixing control surface is compatible with Pro Tools versions 4.1 or higher, including Pro Tools v5 TDM and Pro Tools LE.

How does Motor Mix communicate with Pro Tools?

Motor Mix communicates with Pro Tools via MIDI using the HUI personality file included within Pro Tools.

What Pro Tools features can be controlled by Motor Mix?

Because Motor Mix is optimized to work with Pro Tools, the user has complete control over the Pro Tools Mix window. An addition to Transport, Fader, Pan, and Solo/Mute controls, Motor Mix also allows the Pro Tools users to:

• Make channel input/output assignments
• Create send assignments and make pre/post selections.
• Control send levels and send mutes
• Instantiate and adjust plug-in parameters
• Bypass channel inserts
• Record enable and set automation modes and enables
• Scroll through fader banks or groups
  • Create and use locate points
  • The LCD on Motor Mix displays Track Names, Plug In parameters, Rotary pot settings and many others as well.
