Production Palette is an editing control surface for Digidesign Pro Tools 4.0. Unlike other developers of hardware controllers for Pro Tools that have focussed on the Mixing process, we have targetted this device clearly at post production Editors. Production Palette is a large panel offering most of Pro Tools' functions on dedicated keys, grouped logically, colour coded and visually cued with icons. Production Palette is perfect for integration into any intensive environment.
Often, users of Powerful and complex systems like Pro Tools are not able to make best of of the available facilities because they are hidden in menus, or require difficult to remember keystroke combinations. In high end post facilities, experienced audio editors moving onto Pro Tools have often been used to a more direct interface than that offered by an array of menus. To these scenarios, Production Palette adds a clear, direct palette of tools layed out in a logical manner, which can speed up the editing process significantly, whilst offering users immediate access to 'hidden' functions, previously available only to experienced Pro Tools veterans via little known key combinations.
"The Production Palette gives audio Editors the same exciting potential offered to Mix engineers by all the new Mixing surfaces being developed for Pro Tools. I can see it becoming an essential part of every serious Pro Tools post workstation " - Dan Streetly - Hollywood Sound Editor.
Production Palette is also perfectly suited as a compliment to a Mackie HUI mixing surface since it offers all the Editing functions which the HUI lacks. The PX-10 even plugs directly into the HUI's ADB port. For editors who do not need mixing capabilities, the Production Palette stands alone and can increase productivity enormously whilst making editing easier.
The Production Palette PX-10 is a key-based device with 128 keys. Each key comes pre-programmed for Pro Tools 4.0 but can be re-assigned to do almost anything else. The clear key caps are removeable for re-legending. The PX-10 has and ADB connection for easy integration.
Macro Designer
The Second part of the product is the Macro Engine. This is a very powerful system which allows you to program functionality using a simple, yet comprehensive scripting system. With online help, the Macro Designer walks you through the functionality you need, allowing even inexperienced users to easily make their own macros. Production Palette ships with a library of over 200 macros specially designed for Pro Tools 4.0. Other applications will be supported in future, either by Gallery, 3rd party developers, or even YOU. Anyone can design Production Palette overlays and Macro libraries to their own specific requirements. Production Palette offers the ultimate in flexibility and protection from future redundancy.
Midi Control
Production Palette can even issue MIDI messages via OMS. For Pro Tools users, this means that the Production Palette can emulate buttons on any hardware controller created for that system, such as the CS10. As new controllers are released, Gallery will take advantage of the opportunities offered through the Pro Tools MIDI personalities. Using this approach, the Production Palette can incorporate key features from various controllers and assimilate them all on one unique control surface.
